Autism Spectrum Therapy in Madison, WI

Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), are brain-based disorders, characterized by lack of social abilities, communication challenges, repetitive behaviors, and restricted activities and interests. People with ASD commonly communicate, interact, behave, and learn in ways that are different from most other people. The learning, thinking, and problem-solving abilities of people with ASD can range from gifted to severely challenged. Some people with ASD need a lot of help in their daily lives; others need less, but all benefit from assistance interpreting the world and developing skills to help them function more effectively in society.

An autism diagnosis impacts the life of the child diagnosed, but also that of family members. There are emotional, financial, marital and sibling impacts that often go unaddressed. Family therapy and/or individual psychotherapy can be of tremendous benefit to family members and caregivers, as well as to the primary client.

Sarah Theiler, MS, LPC, brings a special awareness and skill set to this work, as she has a child with autism and special needs. Sarah has a dream of someday creating a family-based facility that could meet the needs of children with ASD, providing the support and services necessary to help them thrive. We are so lucky to have her with us at Westside, ready to assist you if you have a child with ASD.
