Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.

Watching Beckie handle her beautiful dogs, you will see how soft spoken and kind she is, but also how clear and consistent. Despite her quiet tones and gentle demeanor, her dogs are incredibly responsive and eager to please her. This kind of attitude is bred only from trust, and their certainty that she will be responsive to them. We learn a lot about people from how they handle their animals. Beckie shows us kindness and strength with a joyous enthusiasm that inspires hope and confidence.
In addition to these attributes, Beckie brings a host of experience and advanced training to bear in her work. With Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, and Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT), she is fantastically equipped to work with every kind of trauma.
Beckie is all about kids, and in this way, all about their parents and families. When she hears from a parent the familiar phrases of “No one believes me!” or “I feel like I am going crazy,” her ears perk up, and she is ready to wade in to find out how she can help. She is available to work with children as young as 4, up to 18. With parents, she utilizes a team approach, with an emphasis on psycho-education, so that the work done in therapy can continue at home. Beckie uses a systems approach with families, and emphasizes attachment in her work with all diagnoses.
Beckie is brimming with ideas and has many areas of specialty. These include working with first responders, for whom using EMDR is an incredibly efficient way of managing the vicarious trauma they are exposed to on a daily basis, working with families who have adopted children, treating Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD), Childhood Sexual Abuse, Self Harm, and Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder. In addition, she is familiar with IEPs/504s and sensory issues.
In spite of her impressive array of specialties, Beckie remains genuine, approachable, and it is incredibly easy to feel comfortable with her.
