Elise’s enthusiasm is infectious. Her bright red hair and ringing laugh will wake you up and get you ready to take on the challenges you are facing. With Elise on your team, you will find yourself with an experienced practitioner, well versed in a variety of tools and techniques. In short order, Elise will identify the skills you need, and teach you how to incorporate them into daily life. To her, psychotherapy is an exciting collaborative quest that begins with someone having the courage to question, examine, and reflect, and then slowly make changes in a holistic, safe, and supportive relationship.
Elise is passionate about working with couples in marriage and relationships, trauma, and attachment issues between parents and child (including reactive attachment disorder). Self-esteem and body image concerns, particularly with women, mindfulness and mind/body interventions for wellness are also important in her work. She is skilled at working with eating concerns, sexual identity and orientation, grief, anxiety, and depression. Her approach and interventions are tailored to each client’s individual needs and treatment goals, utilizing mindfulness and holistic integrative care, combined with various forms of cognitive therapy.
Elise has a registered Therapy Dog, Nox, who serves as her co-therapist in sessions when appropriate. Therapy animals have been shown to reduce anxiety and facilitate expression of emotion in many clients, both child and adult. Nox is only present when the client feels comfortable with the idea.
