Ali is a passionate and thoughtful therapist who assumes that her clients are doing the best they can, AND that they want to do better. To help clients accomplish this, she has acquired training and expertise in many cutting edge therapeutic approaches (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)).
But it is the person who makes the difference in therapy, and in Ali you will find a light and adventuresome spirit tempered by compassion and tolerance. She forges a therapeutic relationship that is safe, supportive, and goal-orientated. Creative and nonjudgmental, Ali is proud to be trauma-informed, queer-affirming, and sex-positive, and will encourage you to be your true self—both in and out of session.
She will help you identify changes that will move closer to where you want to be. This may mean making big changes to substance use or social life, processing a trauma narrative, learning mindfulness skills, or working on changing a habit. Her therapy style engages an active process that involves a fair amount of work. She feels that a successful therapy experience does not mean that people are "fixed" because no one is “broken.” A successful therapy experience leaves you better able to tap into your inner and outer resources.
